Skirts and sweaters

30 Sep

If you’ve picked up a fashion mag in the past couple of weeks, you won’t have been able to move for the new fashion uniform: skirts and sweaters.

Dresses are out, and last winter’s jazzy trousers are banished. This winter, it’s all about this cute new combo. Here are a few celeb examples:

There are all sorts of ways to do it, from jumpers belted over maxi-skirts to cropped jumpers with pencil skirts. However, my favourites are these two: matchy matchy, and fun and flirty.

Matchy matchy

By this, I mean wearing your skirt and jumper in matching colours – great if you work in a fairly corporate office and are worried that wearing a sweatshirt might be a little too dressed down. This is practically a uniform.

River Island has some great co-ords:

Sweater, £28, River Island

Skirt, £25, River Island

Sweater, £40, River Island

Skirt, £30, River Island

Or, create your own matchy look with these bits from Asos – you’d never know they weren’t an actual set, and they’ll work well as separates, too:

Skirt, £30, Asos

Sweater, £20, Asos

Fun and flirty

This is your weekend look (or for those of you who are lucky enough to work in a ‘wear-what-you-like’ office like me!). For this I’ll be pairing cute, patterned and printed sweaters, and bright and frilly skirts. Basically any combination of the below, anything goes – it’s the weekend:

Sweater, £38, Topshop

Sweater, £29.99, H&M

Sweater, £18.75, Forever 21

Skirt, £40, Topshop

Skirt, £35, Topshop

Skirt, £10, Miss Selfridge

Enjoy your new uniform! I’m off to buy hundreds of Forever 21 sweaters!
