Christmas gifts for the boys

28 Nov

While they’ll probably ask for sports gear or gadgets for Christmas or, even worse, tell you there’s nothing they want, there are plenty of fashion gifts that the men in your life will appreciate – they just don’t know it yet. And, let’s face it, they’d probably never buy them for themselves…

First up, cashmere. I bang on about Uniqlo cashmere on this blog more than in strictly healthy, but it’s one of the greatest things about winter. Why should the boys miss out…?

I love these autumnal wine and bottle green shades, but Uniqlo’s jumpers come in pretty much every colour, for £89.90 each. (Even better news is that you can borrow them when they’re not looking.)

Next, a natty scarf…

This one’s £19.96 from Barbour at John Lewis. It’s pure lambswool, the grey colour and check print will always be in style, and it’s by Barbour – a cool, heritage brand. What’s not to like?

If you haven’t heard of Happy Socks, get this brand on your radar now…

These brilliant, jazzy designs for men are just £4.80 a pair. Because why should women have all the fun with hosiery?

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that all women want something from Jo Malone for Christmas. Well, it is in my family anyway. But there’s no reason for the men to miss out on the fun, and many of the Jo Malone fragrances are unisex.

The 154 scent is much more masculine than feminine, but without any of those overly manly, sprayed-liberally-in-the-changing-rooms-after-footie notes. And it’s only £42 for 30ml.

And finally, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a new pair of slippers under the tree. I said in a previous gift guide post that Ugg slippers are my ideal, and I think the men’s versions are pretty special, too.

These are £72 (usually £90, but they have 20 per cent off until Monday), and the classic design in dark colours makes them as far removed from the stereotypical Ugg image as I can imagine. I think they’d be a hit.

Happy shopping!
