The year of pompoms

20 Dec

The majority of fashion trends are, of course, dictated by the catwalks, but every year, a few little things sneak under the radar and become massive hits, mostly thanks to street style and the influence of blogs and the high street.

This winter has undoubtedly been the season of the pompom, and I have definitely got the fluffy bug. They’re adorning everything, from keyrings and hats to shoes, jumpers and bags (and I’ve been harping on about them for months!)

There’s something especially festive about these cute little pompom pieces – and they won’t bust the budget – making them great last-minute Christmas gifts. If you act fast and order these today, they can all still be under the tree in time for the big day…

How about a pair of pompom trainers

The pompom beanie has also taken on a life of its own this year. You can get them in all sorts of patterns and colours, but I quite like a neutral if I’m wearing it on my head!

Pompom keyrings are a nice way to get in on the trend if you’re not one for OTT statements. Helen Moore’s are classic, if a little pricey (but not too pricey for a Christmas gift).

£30 each, Helen Moore

She even sells cute shoe clips so you can adapt a few pairs you already own…

River Island’s used pompoms to jazz up some great staple accessories. I love these leather gloves…

£25, River Island. The colour contrast is really nice.

And as a final flourish, this pretty, folksy necklace is now reduced to just £6 – a third of the original price.
