Everyone loves a stripe…

30 May

…And particularly a classic blue and white one. Nothing feels more spring bank holiday to me than a fresh striped top, comfy and stretchy skinny jeans (I’ve eaten a lot of cake and biscuits this weekend) and white trainers or sandals.

But equally, I’m coveting chic and swishy striped dresses. That’s the beauty of the stripe: dressed up or dressed down, it always makes just enough of a statement, but still feels safe and reliable. Here’s some inspiration from Pinterest…

So if you’re feeling the need to splash some post payday cash (hoorah!) may I draw your attention to these…

Harpa dress, £225, from L K Bennett. I’m obsessed with this dress for summer wedding, though sadly I’m not going to one this year! But I think it’d look brilliant with a colour pop shoe – I’m thinking fuchsia or yellow.

And, for a more relaxed day dress, this one from Fat Face is perfect…

It’s the Kirstie dress, which costs £40.

For those dress-down days, like today, you could literally fill your wardrobe with an array of simple stripes.

This sweet button-back top is just £7 in the sale at New Look now. Super pretty with white skinny jeans on a sunny day (if the sun decides to grace us once again). See the Pinterest pic top right.

And, for the classic Breton tee, there’s really only one place…

Petit Bateau! This top is £35 and is Duchess of Cambridge approved.

You can get the look for your home, too…

This Hadley bedding from M&S starts at £29.50, and strikes me as the perfect choice for the Breton fan. Even better if you’re moving into a house with blue carpet (er, yes, I’m talking about myself again).

Stay tuned for next week’s post on another spring favourite – fabulous florals!
